Christmas in August

For the last few weeks, I've been
busily getting ready for
my upcoming participation
in the exhibition,

There's a total of ten collectors
involved this year. I'll be doing two
displays, one will be a tree decorated
with American ornaments
made during World War Two
when German & Japanese items
were no longer available here.

The other display will feature
a tree with German spun cotton ornaments..

Next to this tree will be one of
my English dollhouses,
Basil & Alistair's house to be exact.
They'll be prominently perched at the front
door to greet Santa's arrival.

So their first American holiday will
be spent locked up in a display
case with hundreds
of people peering in at them!

The Rosetta Stone Award

I was delighted & honored today to find out
that the prestigious
Rosetta Stone Award
has been passed on to me from

Last year, Rebecca of
was the first recipient.

You can read about the origins of
the award at

All three of these blogs are truly fun,
informative & educational and I've
learned a lot from each of them!

In conclusion, I have to thank all
of the Dollies in my neighborhood...
if it wasn't for them,
this humble little blog wouldn't exist!

A Beautiful 4 Star Country Estate for Dolly!

Recently, while perusing
I spotted this page from the
1940 Sears Christmas catalog...

Check out the plush country estate for Dolly,
it came with a garage, greenhouse, fenced yard,
and even a garden!
So I wonder what the odds are that I'll find
one of these someday...slim to none!

Dolly's "budget" house looks pretty nice as well!

One Little Happy Family

In an earlier post,
I wrote about this newly purchased
Rich Toys house..

Since then, the Landlord has
cleaned it, replaced the missing windows,
and replanted the flower boxes...
just in time for the
new little family to move in.

Naturally,  Mrs. Caco gets
carried over the threshold!

The newly decorated living room,
complete with the original furniture
that came with the house.

Mrs. Caco enjoys a
glass of wine while she
prepares the salad.

Mr. Caco has already had
too much wine, and needs a nap.

The Twins are excited
to have the spacious bedroom
all to themselves...

...and hope that they don't
get caught jumping on heir beds!
