Happy Mother's Day

This morning, I wanted to take a few minutes
to wish everyone a
Happy Mother's Day,
as well as to pay a small tribute to my Mom, who
passed away in 1994 at the young age of 70.
I definitely inherited the
collecting gene from her! Her passion was glass,
but also loved dolls and miniatures. Even though I had
no interest in such things back then, she would be delighted
to know that  her only son is now collecting
dollhouses and miniatures!

After she died, I found this little
German dog on a shelf in her room. I had never
seen it before, but it came home with me, and has become
a prized possession ever since.
Last year, my sister miniaturized the above 1945 photo
of our Mom. Even though she intended it as a
piece of jewelry, it recently occurred to me
that it would make the perfect dollhouse picture!
So in memory of Mom,
her little dog will go back to reclining on the chaise,
and her photo will be hung
in a prominent place of honor
in one of my dollhouses.

Your mother was a very beautiful woman. It good that you have such good memories of her and the idea of a miniature photo is lovely.

What a lovely tribute to your Mom. She is so beautiful. Our Mother's are so special, it is so hard to not have them here any more. You have inspired me to put some old photos of my Mom in some of my dollhouses.
